The Carbon War Room is a global, independent non-profit that brings together complementary NGO’s, entrepreneurs, corporate intrapreneurs, financiers, and the climate change community to focus on gigaton-scale, market based solutions to climate change.
For each of CWR’s operations a filter is applied that analyzes these four criteria:
- Is the operation gigaton scale?
- Are there profitable opportunities available under the current policy framework and using technology that already exists today?
- Are there identified barriers that have a potential for a unique approach to overcome?
- Is there opportunity to have catalytic impact at global scale with verifiable success?
Our main targets include market failures, typically in the form of poor information and high transaction costs, which are preventing the marketplace from encouraging sustainable low-carbon wealth creation. We work to increase the capital flows needed for that marketplace to function, typically working alongside existing efforts to bring about the right policy environment and develop the appropriate technology.
